Hi I’m a proud Mum to an autistic son and the heart behind AUSTOAD.
Our journey began with challenges that started early.
My boy struggled with sensory sensitivities certain foods textures, noises, even weather could overwhelm him.
Like many mums, I tried to encourage him through it, not fully understanding why he felt the way he did.
School was a constant uphill battle. His attention span was short, boredom set in quickly, and often lead to frustration and misbehaviour
and suspensions. Each one chipped away at his confidence, and I was left confused and heartbroken, not knowing how to help.
After year of searching for answers and countless appointments, we finally got a diagnosis, but by then he had developed encopresis and severe anxiety.
Eventually, school became too stressful -for the both of us-and I made the hard decision to bring him home.
Today, at 17yr, he lives with agoraphobia and rarely leaves the front door.
there are days where I have failed as a mum, but AUSTOAD was born from that pain and love combined.
AUSTOAD stands for every child and family walking a road that doesn’t look normal, it’s a reminder that the difference is not a weakness- it’s a kind of strength.
Through my brand, I want to shine a light on autism, celebrate uniqueness, and show that no matter what the obstacles, anything is possible when you travel one road with all abilities.
